Biography and commentary:

Airto Moreira is one of the jazz samba drummers the most virtuoso of history, of Brazilian origin (born in 1941), which certainly gets his talent from a deep knowledge of traditional Brazilian percussion (batucada), which he mixes moreover often with the drumset, without ever falling into exotic clichés and easy effects (which is often the case when trying to play samba in jazz or in variety). He get noticed alongside Miles Davis in 1970 (as a percussionist) and Chick Corea in 1973 (as a drumset drummer, very "bebop", rare versatility).
